I am on twitter much more than my blogs.. it's year end but I don't expect a long break for me anyway. It's work all the way through.
Had a few strained moments today but managed to remain calm and I don't feel too bad at the end of the day. Maybe I'm growing older and 'wiser'? haha.
This may be my last entry for 2009.
The double '0' decade is ending soon. Let's hope the tens (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, etc) years will be as good if not better!
Happy Celebration and Happy New Year 2009!

WHEN LIFE GETS TOO MUCH.. time to let some things go
I seriously think it's time to let go of some of the things on my plate to fully live my life.
Who matters most in your life? For some, your career, for others, your family, love, children, parents, spouse, philantrophic activities, your belief, a cause you've pledged to, for each individual they vary. But I do know what is most important to me: MY FAMILIES.. why the plural?
1. My in-laws, my husband's siblings, my husband's clan - they are considered a separate family. And I do love them, after two years of marriage, I have embraced them as my family, not integrated with my own, the family I was born into is totally different from them, but when I'm with them I feel at home, and I am comfortable enough.
2. My own family, the family who gave life to me and raised me and the whole clan who cared about me up to my wedding day in 2007. Heck, my clan on my mother's side even flew all the way across the miles and over the South China Sea out of their own expenses to 'accompany the bride' into her 'new family' - Asian Chinese are like that, very closely-knitted, especially the traditional families.
3. My own unit cell- my family - my husband. We've been trying to make our nuclear family into three or maybe four for two years now. Taking one day at a time, and trying to adopt the come-what-may-approach. I love him in a way I have never loved anyone before, and there are times when I look at him and still pause in wonder at how love works in life. He's not my first love, but I would say he's my first MATURE love, and I find myself loving him more and more everyday, corny yeah.. but true love is overrated. Each love at each stage of your life, they are Real, true love, cos you believe it was true at that point in life, just the level of maturity could be different?
4. My friends - who are as close as you can get, to your real family. My god-daughters, they belong to my good friend whom I have known since I started primary (elementary) school. Audrey's girls look a bit like me that when I post their pix up on facebook or previously on friendster, people thought I have two girls of my own! :-D I have good girlfriends too and I love catching up with them.. but catching up is a luxury I can hardly afford nowadays.. too pressed for time!
REACHED THE LIMIT
I knew I've pushed the limit when I had to postpone a 'catching-up' session with a girl friend not ONCE but TWICE due to other commitments, the commitment you call work and other after work activities.
I reflected and seriously think I'm trying to spread myself too thin and enough is enough. Cramming too many things into 24 hours certainly has worked up to this point but I am actually at the tipping point.. I can see I'm slowly losing the balance and I need to remove many things in the form of commitment from my life.
Simple is good. Simplicity can NEVER be overrated. So I have made up my mind, clear and simple. I'm good, and I'm loving life.
Here's to a final month reflection of my whole 2009 before my birthday in October. Happy early birthday to me.

We are flesh and blood and more
Yes, we are made of flesh and blood.. but we are made of more...
Humans, we are separate yet the same.. we share the same physiology, female and male, with distinct gender characteristics, with brains and all the physical faculties intact for normal "us".
However, what is the thing that makes us different from a pack of wolves? From a herd of elephants? From a shoal of fish?
Our spirit? Then why do we say "You have a wild spirit, just like the eagle soaring the sky"? How are we different then? Spirit of courage? Then why do we have "As brave as a lion"?
You may then say, it's our souls. And animals do not have souls. However, when you look into your beloved puppy's eyes or into your aged dog's eyes just when he/she is dying... you can't help but feel that the soulful eyes are actually similar to a dying human. Who are you to say that animals do not have souls? Or at least a semblance of soul?
How about feelings? Some have argued that what make us humans different from animals are the feelings and intuition rather than animal instinct. How about gut feelings? Then you'll add that we have logic and rationality, and all the logical things the animals have displayed in their survival are actually based on their survival instincts.. but then again, back in the Paleolitics, our predecessors managed to survive based on their survival instincts too.. and we evolved.
So that brings us to... we manage to evolve and the animals did not.
Okay.. then how about a possibility of the nearest cousin of ours, the apes evolving in their intellect into more refined apes like how it was depicted in the planet of the apes? Creepy idea.. some may deny the possibility but with the modern day technology where anything is possible, only time will tell... so I dare not say never.
This question of how we are different from others, actually stem from an underlying sense of insecurity and inability to live in harmony with nature.
Who were here first? Animals, plants or homosapiens? homosapiens = human species
Actually, WE are the invaders. Take our ego aside and live in harmony with nature. Stop destroying our environment, stop killing the animals by illegal poaching, and slow down to heal Mother Earth.

A little Bit of thIs, A little Bit of thAt
This line from a song popped up when I woke up this morning.
Yup, life is definitely a little bit of this and that and they do not say "Variety is the Spice of Life" for nothing!
Just returned from my 6th Honeymoon last weekend and celebrated my 2nd Wedding Anniversary last night. All is good. Who says you cannot squeeze in happy events while you're both working and there isn't a need to take a day or two off? Yup, we didn't take leave from work and still can do it all! Hahaha.
Modern (working) life is such that you have to keep up with the hectic pace and if you really need a break, just throw caution to the wind and pack your bag and off you go to enjoy. While you're at it... enjoying, fully live in the moment and forget the pile of work waiting for you at home and you'll come back energised.
Seriously, it worked! *big grin*
Trying to make the best of my life now. So far so good :-D

July is a Beautiful Month - at least for memories
July is a beautiful month
I got married in July.
My receptions were both in July.. and my first honeymoon was in July and I first moved in with my husband after our wedding in July.. so all is good. Oh.. April is a good month for me too. Heck, the only month that I don't have any memories of any small anniversary is in May. Only my dad's birthday falls on that month. So every month is a good month.
And it was also in July so long ago that I had my heart broken, and now one bitter incident is replaced by so many beautiful events and sweet memories they'll remain. Life is great.
When you lose the little things in life, you'll get them replaced by bigger things. So hang in there! :-D

Please RSVP/Please Reply
Found a very interesting note on common English Errors on wsu.edu website.
RSVP stands for the French phrase Répondez s’il vous plaît (“reply, please”), so it doesn’t need an added “please.” However, since few people seem to know its literal meaning, and fewer still take it seriously, it’s best to use plain English: “Please reply.” It is a mistake to think that this phrase invites people to respond only if they are planning to attend; it is at least as important to notify the person doing the inviting if you cannot go. And no, you can’t bring along the kids or other uninvited guests.
So Please RSVP is actually redundant.. so many people have done that in real life!

REST IN PEACE, APAISALUI (Rapaee Kawi)
OMG.. I'm totally in shock. Life is so fleeting.. a fellow press member (I was a journalist before) whom I was quite close to just passed away this morning in a polyclinic during check up! No details are known as yet..! I miss him already! He's totally funny, wacky and I'm so glad I knew him. Feels numb and wanna cry at the same time.
REST IN PEACE, APAI (means father in Iban)
The first announcement that I managed to google up was posted by Hakim Bujang, a fellow ex-reporter upon reading a fellow facebooker tagging Apai as 'The Late Apai'. RIP, Apai.. we'll miss you. Google up Rapaee Kawi for the news article on his passing.

H1N1 Flu
Dear Blog,
It's been three months since I've updated you.
Life has changed considerably.. the world has changed a lot since then.
Just recovered from a flu .. thank Goodness it was not H1N1 Flu!
Let's hope the global situation is under control and will not prolong for long.

When Words Fail
OK, I'm having this collective issue - me and several more people - we are trying to form an online 'company' and were miscontrued as spamming in an online forum that we're active in - more than one month after our Corporation has started its activities actively.
Our 'business' and 'company' concept is totally foreign to the moderators there - some of which are less than a-quarter-century-old.
Despite the numerous messages and explanation which is totally done in detailed description with specific examples and proofs attached, the message was just not driven home.. we shall see how it goes - see if understanding of what we truly are will arrive to the odd ten moderators that we are indeed a single entity - instead of incomprehension at the moemtn as it seems that words are failing now. Either words are failing - or they do not bother to read at all.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm going away for the Valentine's weekend (Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday this year) - extended weekend for me as I'll be away from Friday through Monday -- more to the in-laws place and then travel down South for a bit to visit some relatives and do some sight-seeing.
But still.. it's a getaway from the hustles and bustles of the city! Yay!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

A Trip Into the Past
I had a trip into the past - in the sense that I revisited the places of interest in my current city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a trip down memory lane - only this time, I played tour guide.
I met up with a Filipina girl I befriended via a facebook application I am currently addicted to - (fluff)friends and she brought along a Thai guy she befriended via facebook (not the same application or rather, not any other application) - they are studying the same field - archeology.
She recently had to fly to Indonesia in some archipelago off Yogjakarta and her flight schedule is in such a way that she has to transit in Kuala Lumpur for a night before flying off. As her flight arrived just after noon at around 3-4pm, we made plans to meet up.
With only photos I've seen of her and she of me on facebook, I welcomed her at the KL Sentral station along with that guy, of course, whom she introduced to me. So started my 3-hour fully packed role as their tour guide around the metropolitan city.
I brought them on the LRT (train) ride to Petaling Street, or Chinatown. There they feasted their eyes on unconventional products on display and cheap bargains.
On the way back to the LRT station, we dropped by Central Market (arts and crafts complex) and took a peek into the arts and crafts there.
Then it was the ultimate visit of the night - the Petronas Twin Towers. It was already 8.30pm when we reached KLCC station, the stop where you get off if you wish to visit the Twin Towers.
There are four different entrances/exits of Suria KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre - shopping complex) and I brought them to all four to snap away the night view of the towers, leaving of course, the best angle for last.
Both of them were in awe of the magnificent architecture and the lights accentuated the majestic structure. Pix for your eyes' viewing pleasure. ;-)

Fluff Is Fun
I am officially addicted to (fluff)Friends - a facebook application which allows you to adopt a virtual pet and interact with other pet owners from the whole world - actually that was old news - I have been an addict since last year. So there's nothing new.
I've just recently had a crazy idea to start a virtual (fluff) company - a company that is only valid and recognised in the (fluff) world. So far none has existed yet - yes you have virtual companies where no offices are needed but this is redefining the meaning of virtual company as it only is defined by the (fluff) community.
For more information on fluff - http://www.fluff-friends.com/
You need to login to facebook.com to enjoy full access to fluff, though.
Happy Fluffing!
Update: As at end 2011, the developer of (fluff)Friends has decided to stop developing/maintaining the app on fb, and has abandoned the app, which has since ceased to function, and has been replaced with iPhone app called (fluff)Friends Rescue.
